Marketing and Media
Community health centers are high quality primary care providers for Texas communities, and yet they are often the health care world's best kept secret. In order to keep doors open for uninsured patients, health centers must reach out to a broad variety of patients to maintain a sustainable payer mix for their operations. That means bringing in patients with public and private insurance as well.
National health reform focuses this challenge for health centers as they prepare to compete for patients in a significantly changing health care environment. As Medicaid expands to cover parents and childless adults up to 133% of the Federal Poverty Level and as Health Insurance Exchanges are implemented to offer subsidized health coverage options for thousands more families up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, health centers must position themselves as providers of choice for more people who have a choice in health care providers.
How does a non-profit health care provider with a limited budget for marketing accomplish this?
TACHC maintains media access and marketing resources for health centers.
In early spring 2011, building on our current resources, TACHC will roll out a statewide communications strategy to solidify the community health center "brand" in the state as the "Largest Primary Care Network in Texas." Our two-pronged strategy will focus on consistent FQHC messages to policy makers as well as customizable materials to successfully reach out to existing and potential patients.
