This free webcast overviews upcoming managed care changes and the actions centers can take if their patients have been assigned to different providers after the managed care rollout March 1st. Not only is managed care is expanding to all areas of the state, current managed care areas will experience changes in the managed care organizations (MCOs) that operate in their regions. Almost all health center patients in new managed care areas will have to choose a health plan and primary care provider or be assigned one by the state. Patients in current managed care areas may have to choose a new health plan if their current MCO will no longer operate in the area. In the past, only about 30% of Medicaid and CHIP recipients statewide have chosen their health plan and primary care providers, the rest being assigned by the state Medicaid agency to a provider in their area. This webcast will help centers be prepared to educate their patients about what they can do to change health plans and primary care providers if they have been assigned to another provider but would like to continue receiving care at the center. The webcast is intended both for centers located in new managed care areas and those in current managed care areas.
