As part of a long term strategy to assure health center viability in a post health care reform environment, the TACHC Board of Directors approved the formation of a Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO). Additionally, the Board approved the submission of the Health Care Innovations Challenge Grant to the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) to help better position health centers to create the infrastructure necessary to improve care. In an effort to help centers better understand this process and its legal implications, TACHC will host an ACO Workshop at the Sheraton Hotel in Austin on March 1 and 2. The workshop will provide critical information on the formation of an ACO, including the importance of an ACO, infrastructure requirements, overall benefits and risks, and a presentation by TACHC’s ACO partners, Universal American/Collaborative Health Solutions. The workshop will also provide a detailed review of the legal contracts required for your center to participate. An agenda for the workshop is attached for your reference. The workshop will be provided free of charge, but centers are responsible for covering the cost of travel and hotel. Due to time and space constraints, the workshop is limited to one representative from each of TACHC’s full organizational member centers.
To reserve your spot at the ACO Workshop, email Amanda Johnson at ajohnson@tachc.org by Friday, February 24, 2012.
Hotel reservations can be made by calling 1(888)627-8349 and referencing TACHC’s ACO Workshop by Friday, February 24 at 5pm. The Sheraton Hotel is located at 701 East 11th Street in Austin, Texas 78701. The rate is $139/night and self parking is $5.
